What We Do

The Lancaster City Human Relations Commission positively promotes the cause of human rights in the City of Lancaster by working to eliminate discrimination through citizen action, education, and enforcement.  The Commission promotes equal access to the social, cultural, recreational and economic life of our City by administering and enforcing the City’s Human Relations ordinance.

 

This ordinance provides for the equal treatment of all persons in employment practices, access to housing and commercial property, education, public accommodations, lending practices and real estate practices in the City of Lancaster without regard to:
–  Sexual orientation or gender identity
–  Familial, marital status, or pregnancy
–  Guide dog or support animal
–  Race, color, religion, ancestry, or national origin
–  Gender, including sexual harassment
–  Age
–  Handicap or disability
–  Possession of GED

Meeting Schedule

The Lancaster City Human Relations Commission Advocacy Council will meet the fourth Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. except December.

 

The Commissioners of the Lancaster City Human Relations Commission will meet the third Thursday of every other month, beginning in January 2021, at 6 p.m. Please note that specific complaints should not be raised during a public meeting with the Commissioners, but rather in writing via the form linked in the main body of this page.
