Celebrating Women’s History Month 2022 | Mayor Danene Sorace

March 10, 2022 | Mayor's Office

March is Women’s History Month. Let us take pause and honor the women who have paved the way for many to break new barriers whether it be in elected office, a skilled trade, owning a business, or any aspiration young girls set their minds to.

If you’ve ever been on the second floor of City Hall, you have seen the wall of mayors outside my office. It remains a daily, powerful example of the importance of women in leadership. Mayor Stork and I represent the only two women mayors among them. For that reason, I take great joy in having what we believe is the first majority women City Council and look forward to many, many more women leaders being elected to all levels of government.

I’m proud of Lancaster’s dedicated women leaders at the helm of nonprofits, small businesses, offices, organizations, and so many families here in our city. Their spirit helps our community come alive with possibilities especially for the next generation of women.
