Community & Police Working Group to Present Strategic Plan to City Council

October 22, 2020 | Department of Neighborhood Engagement

The Community & Police Working Group (CPWG) will be presenting their Strategic Plan during Tuesday’s virtual City Council meeting, the City announced today.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed live on the City’s YouTube channel. Those wishing to make public comment can join the meeting via Zoom or telephone. Instructions on how to join the Zoom or call in are available at www.cityoflancasterpa.com/city-council.

The presentation will focus on the four main areas of the strategic plan, which are to clarify the role of CPWG, develop a community with stronger race relations among all residents, provide recommendations on Bureau of Police hiring practices, and build relationships with city residents through community engagement efforts.

The meeting will also share a brief introduction of the CPWG members, as well as a short history of the group’s accomplishments to date.

CPWG is a committed group of residents, community leaders, and staff from the City of Lancaster and Bureau of Police advocating on behalf of our black, brown and other marginalized communities. The group was formed to build trust, collaboration, mutual understanding and respect among the community and police to create a just, safe, and equitable Lancaster City.
