Sidewalk Repair Program

The Sidewalk Repair Program is a City of Lancaster initiative to make it easier for property owners to repair their sidewalks using low-interest loans and a City-sourced contractor to perform the work.

Curb and Sidewalk Work

One permit per location (address) is required for any curb and/or sidewalk work. The contractor performing the work must be bonded with the City in order to obtain a permit or else the property owner may obtain the permit.

In addition, any curb work done on a state street requires a permit from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and must be done in accordance with its specifications. For more information please call PennDOT at (717) 299-7621.

Bond forms along with city curb and sidewalk specifications are available below, or at the permit desk at City Hall.

For inspections, contact the Bureau of Engineering at (717) 291-4764 at least 24 hours before the work is scheduled.
