Grant Application Workshops: March 7 at Tabor Community Services and March 14 at Crispus Attucks Community Center.
Love Your Block is a community engagement program that supports resident led improvement projects and makes it easier for residents to connect with City leaders and resources. The program offers mini-grants that are specifically for projects that focus on reducing litter and addressing simple exterior home (facade) repairs in the focus neighborhoods of Howard Avenue and the ChurchTowne neighborhood. Interested residents, neighborhood groups and community organizations in these neighborhoods are invited to submit project proposals for a mini-grant ranging between $500-$2000. Projects that receive funding will be asked to schedule a follow up conversation with the City to discuss the impact of your project.
The 2019 Love Your Block program is focused on engaging the residents on Howard Avenue and those in the ChurchTowne Neighborhood. These neighborhoods have a long and rich history. Some of the homes are from the 1730s. Historians believe Howard Avenue was the first area of Lancaster City to be settled. Ida Gantz, from Crispus Attucks, did important work on childhood education here, Milton Hershey had his first candy factory here, and the 200 year old Bethel AME Church is an important part of this community. We want residents in these neighborhoods to know that rich history and see their communities achieve even greater things.
