Annual Leaf Pick Up Program
The City of Lancaster has announced that its Annual Leaf Pick Up Program will begin on Monday, October 15th, weather permitting. The purpose of this program is to pick up only street tree leaves. It is not intended to be a general removal of all leaves, which have fallen on private property. Residents are asked to refrain from raking leaves into street side gutters.
The City is currently operating on a bi-monthly sweeping/leaf collection schedule except on certain major thoroughfares that are designated for weekly cleaning (King Street, Orange Street, Queen Street, Prince Street, Manor Street, and Highland Avenue). All residents on the bi-monthly schedule should check their local street signs to confirm their pick up date in the first and third week or second and fourth week of the month. City holidays will fall on Election Day (November 6th), and thanksgiving (November 22nd and 23rd). Leaf collection will not occur on these holidays. Leaf collection will resume for those locations missed due to these holidays on the next regularly scheduled street sweeping/leaf collection day.
Questions pertaining to leaf pick up/street cleaning should be directed to the bureau of streets at (717) 291-4837 and to register for the "Woody Yard Waste" recycling pick up contact (717) 291-4744.
