Snow Emergency Procedures The principal objective of a Snow Emergency declaration is to allow the Department of Public Works and the Police Bureau to restore a reasonable flow of traffic in the City as quickly and effectively as possible. The primary concern during a Snow Emergency is to maximize traffic flow on the City's main arteries. Certain City streets have been designated Snow Emergency Routes. These routes will receive first priority for plowing or snow removal. Designated Snow Emergency Routes are: Snow Emergency Map Links: Printable Snow Emergency Route Map (PDF) Snow Emergency Route Map (JPG) In the event of a Snow Emergency declaration, Cars may be placed in any of the following municipal parking garages: Whenever possible, these streets will be plowed curb to curb. In the event of a Snow Emergency declaration, the City will advise the public through local media and the City web site. Cars parked along snow emergency routes must be moved within one hour of the declaration of a Snow Emergency.
