East Orange Street: Stop #14
St. James Epsicopal Church Cemetery East Orange at North Duke Street
On the north side of the block, just west of Cherry Street, is the walled cemetery of St. James Episcopal Church. Established in 1744, it is the most intact eighteenth-century cemetery within city limits. (The church itself, at the corner of North Duke Street, was built in 1820 as a Federal style brick building but it was covered in the 1880s with dark pressed brick to give it a Romanesque look.)
[The cemetery is open during daylight hours, accessible through the cloistered walkway leading from North Duke Street.]
