North Lime Street: Stop #12
John Black Mansion 47 North Lime Street
At the corner of East Orange Street sits one of the few examples of the Classical Revival style in Lancaster. Built in 1852, this mansion's classical details include the entry porch supported by thick Tuscan columns and the sidelights flanking the front door. The house was remodeled in the 1880s to add elements of the newly fashionable Queen Anne style, including the multi-paned window sash and ornamental chimneys. Take a look at the corbeled chimney on the East Orange Street side of the building.
Look as well at the building directly across North Lime Street, with its wealth of decorative wrought iron.
[Private residence, not open to the public.]
