North Lime Street: Stop #11
Frank Furness House 24 North Lime Street
This L-shaped brick house dates from 1886-1888 and is Lancaster's only known work by the Philadelphia architect Frank Furness [1839-1912]. Furness was influenced by the Romanesque Revival style, seen in his designs for train stations, banks, libraries, office buildings and churches in Philadelphia. This brick residence features a combination of gabled and hipped roofs, a side porch with bracketed posts, and a sandstone water table.
[An office and apartments, not open to the general public.]
