Lancaster's Long History
Three centuries of Architectural History in LancasterExplore the breadth of Lancaster's architectural heritage, and the stories conveyed by the City's historic buildings. Architectural History provides a brief overview of three centuries of the City's growth in the 1700s, 1800s, and 1900s, and looks at two characteristic building types in Lancaster - markethouses and industrial buildings. Architectural Styles describes eleven architectural styles, with photographic examples of City buildings that are representative of each style. The pedestrian scale of Lancaster's commercial and residential districts makes it easy to explore the City through Walking Tours.
