A Walk Through History: Passport to the City of Lancaster The Lancaster Cultural History Museum (formerly the Heritage Center Museum of Lancaster County) offers a free self-guided student walking tour in Lancaster that is appropriate for students in grades 3 and 4. The tour is available in two time lengths: 60-75 minutes and 75-90 minutes. Each student receives a brochure guide, Passport to the City of Lancaster, containing photographs of each tour stop, questions and answers about each stop, and a map. Registered teachers receive an advance copy of the tour guide as well as a Teacher's Guide containing additional information about the sites and historical background on the City. The Historic Lancaster Walking Tour Since its start in 1976, during the nation's bicentennial celebration, The Historic Lancaster Walking Tour has offered guided walking tours of Lancaster to more than 100,000 people. Tours are given daily between April and October, departing from the Southern Market Center. The group also organizes special one-day thematic tours, including the popular "Halloween Ghost Tour" in Lancaster Cemetery.
