Architectural Styles
Georgian Style (1730-1790)
The Georgian style in America was a Colonial interpretation of English high style buildings. Characteristics include:
- formal boxlike design
- asymmetrical four-bay or symmetrical three-bay or five-bay façades with horizontal orientations
- elaborate door surrounds
- use of water tables and belt courses
- 12-over-12 window sash
