The City of Lancaster, Department of Public Works, will be performing a thorough flushing of the Water Distribution Mains to promote maximum water quality.
Flushing operations will begin at 10:00 p.m., Sunday, July 5th, 2009 and continue daily between the hours of 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM until approximately August 28th, 2009. Operations will allow for the cleaning of each main at least once during the designated flushing dates.
Flushing may cause customers to observe a slight cloudiness in the water and a reduction in water pressure, but this occurrence should be temporary. If customers experience cloudy water after flushing activities, they may report the occurrence by calling 717.291.4818 (Water Quality Laboratory).
Customers and the general public may assist in security efforts for our water system during this operation and throughout the year by reporting any non-city employees tampering with fire hydrants or other suspicious activities to the following 24-hour telephone number, 717.291.4816.
