Trash & Recycling

Convenient weekly curbside recycling and solid waste removal is provided to City residents at an affordable price, with a special discount rate for residents 65 years and older.

Trash and recycling containers shall be set out after 6:00 pm the night before collection and removed by 8:00 pm the day of collection. Trash and recycling containers shall be stored to the side or rear of the property and not in front of the property.

No recycling or trash collection is scheduled for the following holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day

*When one of these holidays occurs on a weekday, collection will be one day later than the regularly scheduled day.

A NOTE ABOUT YARD WASTE: Yard waste collection takes place on the first trash day of the month, i.e., if your trash is collection on Thursday, yard waste will be picked up on the first Thursday of the month.

Recycling in Apartments or Condominiums

If you own or manage residential rental properties or condominiums, you must set up a recycling program for your tenants. Your recycling program should recover the same materials that are recycled through the township’s residential curbside recycling program.

All apartment and condominium complexes must separate the following materials:
-       Plastic bottles and jugs
-       Glass containers
-       Steel and bimetal cans
-       Aluminum cans
-       Newspaper
-       Leaf waste

All apartment complexes and condominiums must provide written documentation as to the type and weight of materials recycled annually. Reports are due to the township by February 15 of each year on a form provided by the City of Lancaster.
